They took away WiFi mode. Zero stars

My truck was hit and I can’t access my recordings. Never will I recommend your high priced cameras ever again.

The application was already slow with a horrible interface and with the new update it’s slower, keeps crashing and not user friendly…i am seriously thinking pf dropping of Blackvue as i’m tired of this service.

DON’T BUY BLACKVUE!! Trash after update.

Going to cancel my subscription until they fix the app. So now I can’t delete or manage my cloud storage as a PAID subscriber?!?!? I get a notification saying I’m almost at storage capacity. In the past I just delete ALL OF THE LIVE UPDATES. Ok no big deal. Now with the new update I have to delete them ONE AT A TIME!?!? And if I don’t more videos won’t be uploaded? Who designed this?!?!? Fire the team. And fix this.

App account required

Until recently you could connect to your cameras via WiFi without account. They have changed this now to force you to use an account for no added benefit. Avoid if you can.

Slow and requires account

Why do I suddenly need an account to access my (non-internet connected) camera? App is still extremely slow, even before connecting to the camera.

UPDATE APR 2025: Well now that an account is REQUIRED to view the recordings from the product I! own, this app is just never getting updated, and my 900x is the last Blackvue any vehicle of mine will ever see; Pittasoft it taking a real, “you’ll own nothing and be happy” approach now;✌🏾 I’m out UPDATE: App is still garbage but developer is doubling down 🤷🏾‍♂️ Hit’em in the pocket, look elsewhere until they learn. Solid App & New Update

The updated app interface is great! Glad the login / logout issue is resolved.

Slow

The app is so slow and sometimes won’t even load unless I open and close it a few times. There’s no reason an expensive dash cam should have such a bad app. I also get logged out all the time and have to log back in

The app keeps crashing when open

App continues to crash on launch with a security timeout issue. Fails to keep me logged in and notified of any new alerts

Crashes when trying to connect

Used to be useable app now it crashes when I try to connect to my camera from the app. Also the upselling to premium needs to stop after I click decline once. Also I keep getting spammed with developer’s response.

Not user friendly

This app is confusing and is difficult to understand how to use properly. It’s frustrating more often than it is helpful.

The latest app is a showstopper

Having paid as much as I did for these cameras the recent ui update to the app is making me regret the purchase of these cameras. Always needing to fling multiple times a day. Crashes. Random errors that make no sense such as not having internet connectivity. The old ui was dated looking, sure, but I don’t care. It worked that’s what I care about. Just because it’s looks old does not mean it needs to be changed. Update: 3/1/25 I can’t even change my LTE app settings

App no good

The app is terrible to log in.

Always with updates

This is ridiculous, they always update the app and it takes forever to connect camera back to app. They keep pushing on people to sign up for monthly premium. Mark my words, next camera will not be a blackvue! Keep playing this games yall will lose clients!!!

Improvements

Update Feb 2025:( from 4 to 3 stars) For the last 2 months something changed where I’m only allowed to add one of my BlackVue batteries to the cloud. Before I was able to pair and unpair between my B124-X and Newer B130-X, but all of the sudden it’s not allowing me to pair the new b130x to monitor the battery percentage anymore. It keeps says “ battery already paired” meanwhile I can successfully pair the older B124-X with no issue and monitor the battery percentage. Very disappointing since I use this feature frequently. (End of update) I’ve been using the DR750 2 channel LTE model for about 2 years now and have been happy with it. The software has seen some very slight improvements over that time , especially with the latest Update on 4-1-24 where they finally implemented Battery Status over the cloud. A much welcomed feature. My only gripe is ever since they added that 2 way communication feature it made the viewing window smaller and no longer fills the whole screen of my phone, it’s like a small box within my large screen real estate. I wish they could give the option to enable or disable the 2 way , since I don’t even use that. Overall the Cameras have been fine.

This has been the biggest joke of a product that I have ever purchased! $800 down the drain for something that doesn’t work!!!!

Challenging!

I’m changing my one-star review because I realize I was frustrated. BlackVue support did reach out to me with an offer to assist. However, the billing service for the SIM card included in the package wasn’t functional after repeatedly attempting to update my billing information. I’m hopeful that this issue will be resolved. After an automatic firmware update (even though my data plan still shows cancelled), the live view function resumed working. Unfortunately, after the update, the camera started beeping loudly and randomly while driving. This turned out to be a setting that had inadvertently changed during the update. I believe there are two essential services you need: the Fleet Service (or at least that’s what they appear to be transitioning or promoting customers toward) and a data plan for the SIM card.

Needs more buffer on wifi or cloud video playback

If the app would just let the video’s buffer more while playing back at original quality over wifi or cloud they would run a lot smoother. Response to developer- it’s not the connection the video will only buffer a few seconds ahead of where you are in playback. Even when connected on wifi direct- also the video quality of the 970xplus is aweful so reducing another star.

Worst dashcam I've ever owned!

The app interface is not user friendly to know how to set up the camera. The first few months used up the data plan in less than a week. Turn off all features to preserve the data for a emergency.

Performance

The app needs A LOT OF WORK… I have the smart subscription and always asking for upgrade plan, have to disconnect the camera and start the process again

Less recording

Records 1min increment videos only on detected event; not the entire drive! Which begs to question: What is considered an event???

Only connects to wifi camera one out of every one hundred attempts.

The UI/UX needs tremendous help, I regret adding this camera and dealing with this software

Terrible

This app is god awful. For all the work they did on their actual cameras, it appears they hire 2nd graders to design and develop this app. It is not user friendly whatsoever, the downloads are clunky, and it is an act of God to just get it up and running and connected to the cameras. The support team is an obviously outsourced call center that is not helpful whatsoever. The monthly subscription they try and charge on top of everything is joke. So many better cameras and apps out there with better customer support, avoid this company at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mix feelings

The app is simple to use. The problem is Every time you gonna access your dash cam the app won’t remember or recognize the dash cam so you have to keep registering the dash cam which is frustrating. I have the 650s w/ back cam and it’s very useful but it needs improvements to keep dash cam info stored. BlackVue hit me up if you have a solution cause my firmware is up to date and my app too

Barely functioning

***UPDATE*** I did all the troubleshooting steps (more than once) and nothing worked. This app is so terrible is makes me want to get a new camera that uses a different app . This is so upsetting I can’t even fathom. God forbid something happens to my car or I get in an accident and can’t even playback the footage. I’m very disappointed and highly upset. Not recommending this to anyone else. The camera is absolutely amazing but the app is TERRIBLE. It continuously disconnects from camera, I haven’t been able to few a playback video in days . This is getting absurd thinking about switching companies just because this is unbearable

Works most of time

The App displays and allows downloading of videos nicely, and setting parameters is very easy. It serves basically as the control panel for the camera. I have a support ticket in because no events are being uploaded to the cloud via my smart phone hot spot or my home wifi connection. I also find switching between the camera wifi hotspot and the cloud causes the app to become unstable. 9/10 times I can no longer connect my phone to the camera. Putting the phone right up to the camera seems to help - makes no sense to me. The camera is quite nice and the App is intuitive. Just the connectivity is kludgy and needs some attention. UPDATE: Support was very helpful. The problems I was having surrounded settings on my iphone. I am currently pleased. It is working and more stable. I increased my rating from 3 to 4 stars. Support was very responsive.

Needs updating

Can’t access account cameras without having to restart the app and login numerous times. Cloud services are EXTREMELY BUGGY and unreliable. I have one of the largest best cam box currently available with the LTE internet connection module and this feels like a huge waste !

This app is garbage

Constantly trying to connect to the camera and unless you’re in the car or within a few feet away, good luck. Waste of money for this camera.

Now requires unnecessary permissions

Previous iPhone versions didn’t require location or cellular data permissions. This was great because I don’t (and won’t) use their cloud—I could completely trust the app to not leak my personal info. Why force unused permissions? MY NEXT DASHCAM WON’T BE BlackVue.

Bad Blackvue

I wish I could give it 0 stars. So, the new cameras and app requires you to allow location services to even see your video through WiFi on your phone. It used to not be that way with the older app and cameras. Another fun issue is if you do have location services on, the camera wifi will not automatically turn off wifi and connects to your phone. No more user controlled on or off for wifi in the camera settings. So your phone is always connected to the wifi and it heats up the camera faster. You have to turn off wifi on your phone or delete it out of your network options so the camera will auto turn off the cameras wifi. Another crappy issue with blackvue is you can no longer select how long the video recording segments are…you are stuck with 1 min increments. What happened to the 2 or 3 min increment option? When replaying videos it now takes longer to go through all the videos in 1 min increments vs 3 that was able to do before. Also, don’t update your old cameras as mine bricked itself when I tried and I made the mistake of going with blackvue again.

Many issues

This App really needs some attention. Constant connectivity issues, slow performance, missing notifications, and persistent errors when signing in using my Apple account. The hardware is great, but BlackVue needs help when it comes to their software.

Please improve the app

I have the DR770 with CM100GLTE, I would like to see the videos from the app with CarPlay. It would be great and very useful to see the videos from my dash cam on my car screen. The app is a bit confusing and has a lot of bugs. The connection to my CM100GLTE constantly fails.

Never ceases to frustrate me

I had high hopes when I bought my lte system. App is frustrating. Accessing content is painful. I pretty much gave up and let the thing passively run praying it actually worked when I need it. Sorry I’m not being specific but the list is so long. Start with useability and fix that. Connecting is flaky. Hot spot never works. Like hire a couple of people and watch how annoying this thing is.

The WORST!

Worked good for the first few months then just did a total 360!! Literally had someone hit the back of my car Last night and they took off, was upset but felt like I was good because I had the back camera, looked at the camera this morning, I have every other footage except that exact moment!! 🤯😡 I’m over it! I’m getting a different setup TODAY!! Never me Again!

UPD: developer just sending these automatically generated text replies. Pathetic. Who really reads, now understands that I sold this dvr and so I don’t have it. But auto reply saying bla bla contact so we will help. 0 stars. Because of this so I’ll never buy these DVR’s anymore and sold those I had. First, it asks for location?! Why? No point at all! Second - deal breaker, I wasn’t able to connect to dvr WiFi even password it the same. Previously connection worked well.. but after some app update it stopped forever! Contacted support, no answer or some some nonsense like reboot your iPhone… nothing worked and not working in 2024, this bug was in 2023. Never again!!!

Needs to be simplified

Too much added at this point, the app constantly lags and gets stuck on loading screen. The cameras are great shame the app can’t work consistently. My app was stuck on loading screen, had to login in on a desktop to decline a plan to then finally be able to open app.

What’s up with me needing to login to an account to an already secured camera? App continuously fails when i doesn’t detect a good connection? Why do I need any connection to use the app? And to add to that, the app always logs me out of my account. Fix it.

Same problems

I have the same problems as Touch of Good humor! I am a paying customer that has a DR970XBox LTE and immediately I noticed a unit turning on and off, calling the support team I was told to checking my wiring, replace the SD card, they replaced the main unit and it did not fix the problem, purchasing their battery pack as a suggestive fix due to poor power connections and this didn't fix the problem, replace the LTE unit and that didn't fix the problem. I stopped using their LTE card and went with T-Mobile and that did not fix the problem. They slowly stopped all email communications. When connecting using their app, for some reason, it forgets that I have a unit and I have to go through the entire set up process again and again, I'm disappointed with the picture, I was expecting the best of the best 4K what I have is a dark 2K at best fish eye video. The app has a battery indicator that Bluetooth sinks with the battery pack and you're supposed to be able to see how much battery life you have and mine most of time does not work. I have to mainly go in and look at it. And this unit is power hungry it depletes my battery back up within 15-16 hours. And they notified me by email that I should contact them for support and that this is not an app issue and I look at the reviews... and some how my last review was deleted! Please save your money save your time.. Do not buy Blackvue.

Settings don’t save

Settings for cutoff timer and rear camera never save unless you have the premium subscription. Unless you’re planning to pay for the subscription it’s a terrible app.

Best app for communication with your camera

They have made some many improvements to the app and to be honest there's no other camera who can offer you all you need in one app they recently made an update and to be honest I stick with BlackVue since 2020 and I'm still their costumer because they are the only ones who offerer this type of security in a car, it's expensive yea but it worth the money, this camera save me probably thousands of dollars, where I live there's some low life people who likes to breaking in to vehicles and cause a lot of damage and this camera save me from that and even a posible murder, right now the suspect is on prison because this camera record 3 channel and I perfectly got him on camera
